Import user data
A CSV wizard for bringing in users, devices, DIDs and CLIs in bulk — pick a file, map its columns to the right fields, preview exactly what will happen, and only then create anything.
In the sidebar, go to System > Import user data (also reachable from Tools). The four buttons at the top — User, Devices, DIDs, CLIs — switch which kind of row the wizard expects; a note above the form spells out the order to import them in: users, then devices, then DIDs, then CLIs, because each later kind links back to the previous one by a Temp ID column you choose yourself, not a real database ID.
1. Choose a file and map its columns
Pick a CSV file, its delimiter and whether the first row holds column headers. As soon as a file is loaded, the wizard reads its header row and tries to guess which column is which; every guess can be corrected — or set to — none — — from a dropdown per field. Fields marked with an asterisk are required.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
Temp ID (link) | A number you invent per row in the CSV, only used so a later Devices/DIDs/CLIs import can point back at "row 3 of the users file" — never an existing database ID. |
Delimiter | The character separating columns (semicolon, comma, and similar). |
First row = headers | Whether row 1 is column names (used for the auto-mapping) or already data. |
Reset temp IDs | Clears the wizard's own memory of previously imported Temp IDs, so a new file can reuse the same numbers. |
2. Preview before creating anything
Preview reads the file and shows exactly what would happen to every row — without creating anything yet. Each row is marked to create, exists (a matching row is already there) or invalid (with the reason, such as a missing username or password). A summary line above the table counts each outcome, and the button in the top-right corner — labelled with the number of rows that will actually be created — is the only thing in this wizard that writes anything.
The Preview button only reads and checks the file — it creates nothing. The "N Create" button next to the preview summary is the real, confirmed import: it asks you to confirm once more, then creates every row marked "to create". This wiki only opened the wizard and ran a preview on a small demo file to show these screens; nothing was created.
Check
After a real import, open the relevant list (Users, Devices, DIDs) and confirm the created count on screen matches the rows you expected — the wizard's own result message also states how many rows were created and how many were skipped.
