BLF groups

Busy Lamp Field — key assignment for monitoring other extensions: a phone's programmable keys light up to show whether another extension is free, ringing or busy, and dial it with one press. Configured under PBX > BLF Groups.

Two device roles, easy to mix up

A BLF group connects two different lists of devices:

ListWhat it means
Subscribing devicesDevices whose keys display the BLF status of this group — the phone that shows the lights.
Assigned devicesThe watched extensions of this group (device + extension) — what those lights actually monitor.

A single device can appear in both lists at once — it watches its own colleagues' extensions on its own keys.

Create a group

Fill in Name and an optional Comment on the right and click Create.

"Demo BLF" just created — no devices in it yet.

Add subscribing and watched devices

Click Manage on a group to open it. Add a Subscribing device from the dropdown and click Subscribe; add a watched device under Assign Device with its Device and the Extension it should monitor, then click Assign.

"Demo BLF" with device 1010 subscribing, and both demo devices (1010, 1004) assigned as watched extensions.
Warning

Both the Assign Device form's fields are required — leaving the device unpicked or the extension blank rejects the row with "device must be selected" / "Extension cannot be blank" rather than saving something half-filled.

Check

Open the group and confirm the device you expect to see the lights is listed under Subscribing devices, and every extension it should watch is listed under Assigned devices with the right Device and Extension.
