Voices, sound files and time periods

Three small building blocks that IVR menus (and Music on hold's announcements) draw on. Reached from PBX > IVR, the three buttons top-right — or directly under PBX > IVR > Voices / Sound files / Time periods.

Voices

A voice is a named bucket — for example a language or a speaker — that sound files attach to. Type a short code (lowercase letters and underscores) and a description, then click Create voice.

IVR voices — none configured yet on this system.

Sound files

Each sound file belongs to one voice. Pick the Voice, give it a Path / file name, optionally choose a File to upload, and a Description, then click Create file.

IVR sound files — the page explains exactly where an uploaded file lands.
Note

You can create a sound-file record without uploading anything — only the voice/path/description are then saved, with no actual audio behind it yet.

Time periods

A time period is a reusable schedule — a hour/minute range and a weekday range — that time-based routing can check against (a "day vs. night" style split, for example). Give it a Name, its Hours from/to, Minutes from/to and Days from/to, then click Create.

IVR time periods, with the form's own sensible defaults (00:00–23:59, Mon–Fri).

What each field means

FieldMeaning
NameHow this window is labelled wherever it can be picked.
Hours from/to, Minutes from/toThe time-of-day range this period covers, in 24-hour clock.
Days from/toThe weekday range, as three-letter codes (mon … sun).

Check

After creating a voice, sound file or time period, confirm it appears in that page's list with the name and settings you gave it.
