2. Add a provider
How to add the SIP carrier you buy termination from (or sell it through) as a provider, so Voiplix knows where calls can go.
A provider is a carrier you send calls through (or receive them from) — the upstream trunk. This step adds one.
Open Providers
In the sidebar, go to Routing > Providers, then select Create provider.
Fill in the provider
Give the provider a name, and enter the connection details your carrier gave you: the technology (usually SIP), the server address and port, and a login and password if the carrier requires registration.
What each field means
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
Name | How this provider appears everywhere else in Voiplix. |
Technology | The trunk protocol — SIP for almost every modern carrier. |
Provider tariff | The buy tariff that prices calls sent to this provider (built in the next step). |
Server IP / hostname | The carrier's SIP server address. |
Port | The SIP port the carrier listens on — usually 5060. |
Login / Password | Registration credentials, if your carrier requires the trunk to register. |
You can leave Provider tariff unset for now and come back to it after the next step — a provider without a tariff just cannot carry priced traffic yet.
Check
The new provider appears in the Providers list with the status active. If it needs to register with the carrier, its Register column will show Registered once the carrier accepts it.
