7. Configure a phone or softphone
How to take the device's connection details and put them into a softphone (or desk phone) so it registers.
Now point a softphone app or a desk phone at the device you just created. Any SIP client works the same way — this page uses the field names common to apps like Zoiper and Linphone.
What you need
From step 6's device, you need the Extension and the Secret. The server address is the same Voiplix address you use to sign in to the web interface — ask your operator for it if you are not sure.
Connection data
| Softphone field | Value |
|---|---|
| Server / domain / SIP proxy | Your Voiplix server's address (the same one you use to sign in). |
| Port | The Port from the device's Authentication & network fields — 5060/5061 unless changed. |
| Username / extension | The device's Extension (for example, 1010). |
| Password / authentication | The device's Secret. |
| Transport | The Transport from the same section — UDP, TCP or TLS. |
In most apps this is a single "add account" screen:
Server / domain: your-voiplix-address
Port: 5060
Username: 1010
Password: <the device Secret>
Transport: UDP
Field names vary by app — "SIP server", "Domain" and "Proxy" are usually the same box; "Auth username" and "Username" are sometimes separate fields and both take the extension.
Check
The softphone should show Registered (or an equivalent green/online status) within a few seconds. In Voiplix, the device's Registration status on its General tab will also show it as registered.
