Tariff types — buy, sell and wholesale

A tariff is a priced rate table. Voiplix groups them into three kinds, by who they charge and who pays.

Every call has (at least) two prices attached to it: what your provider charges you, and what you charge your customer. Each side is priced from its own tariff — Voiplix never mixes them into one table.

Open Tariffs

In the sidebar, go to Routing > Tariffs. The list is split into three groups.

The Tariffs list — Provider tariffs (buy) at the top, Wholesale and User tariffs (sell) below.

The three groups

GroupWhat it prices
Provider tariffsWhat a provider (carrier) charges you — the buy side. Assigned to a provider via that provider's Provider tariff field.
Wholesale tariffsA sell tariff meant for reseller-priced traffic, kept separate from your standard retail prices.
User tariffsWhat you charge a customer — the sell side. Assigned to a user via that user's Tariff field.

Every tariff belongs to exactly one group — its Type, set when it is created and shown (read-only) on its edit page afterwards. A provider can only be pointed at a Provider tariff; a user can only be pointed at a Wholesale or User tariff.

Tip

One tariff can be assigned to several providers or several users. Most setups need only a handful of tariffs — one buy tariff per carrier, one or two sell tariffs for customers.

A tariff's edit page

Select Edit on any tariff to open its name, type and currency.

Editing the demo sell tariff "Standard Retail".

What each field means

FieldMeaning
NameHow this tariff appears everywhere else in Voiplix.
TypeProvider tariff / Wholesale tariff / User tariff — fixed after creation.
CurrencyThe currency every rate in this tariff is quoted in. See Currencies and exchange rates.
Delta value (optional) / Delta percent (optional)Only used when this tariff is generated as a copy of another one: each copied rate becomes (source rate × (1 + delta percent/100) + delta value), converted to this tariff's currency. Leave both at 0 for a tariff you price by hand.

Check

Open Routing > Tariffs and confirm your tariff shows up under the group you expect — Provider tariffs if it prices a carrier, User (or Wholesale) tariffs if it prices a customer.
