Sending an SMS

Two sides to this: staff subscribe a customer to the SMS service and assign it a provider and price, then the customer sends the message from their own portal.

Admin side: subscribe a customer

Go to SMS > SMS users. It lists who is already subscribed (Active) and who is not (Not subscribed), with a Subscribe / Unsubscribe button on each row.

SMS users: who is subscribed, who is not.

Clicking Subscribe turns the service on for that customer and assigns the first available SMS LCR and tariff automatically. Click Edit on an active row to change which ones:

Assigning a customer's SMS LCR and SMS tariff.
FieldMeaning
SMS-LCRWhich routing profile (and so which gateway) this customer's messages use — see SMS providers and routing.
SMS tariffWhich price list applies — see SMS tariffs and rates.

Only admin and accountant can assign the LCR; a reseller assigning their own customer only gets to pick the tariff.

Customer side: Send SMS

A subscribed customer sees SMS > Send SMS in their own portal. The form asks for a Number and a Message, with a live character/message counter (160 characters per SMS) and a Check tariff button that looks up the price for the number typed so far, without sending anything:

The form filled in — Number, Message and the live character/message counter.
Same form after "Check tariff" — the price shows, still not sent.

Clicking Send passes the message to the gateway from the assigned SMS LCR. The page itself says: "Rating and balance check are ported 1:1 from the legacy system. External gateway delivery is not connected in this rebuild yet (status "queued")." — read that note on the page itself before relying on any particular gateway type; which ones actually deliver depends on what is configured under SMS providers.

Warning

Clicking Send is a real action: a Clickatell or HTTP-API provider makes a live request to whatever gateway is configured, and the price is deducted from the customer's balance the moment it is accepted (see the SMS list and how charging works). Use Check tariff to see the price beforehand, and only send to a number you actually mean to message.

Check

On SMS users, confirm the customer shows up under Active with an LCR and tariff assigned. On their Send SMS page, confirm the form is enabled at all — if the note "for end users only" or "SMS service not enabled" shows instead of the form, the subscription or the tariff/LCR assignment above is still missing.
