The SMS list and how charging works

Where a customer's sent messages show up, what the status column means, and how the price gets taken out of the balance — the same balance a call is billed against.

My SMS

A subscribed customer opens SMS > SMS to see every message they have sent, newest first, with the total message count and total price at the top right:

"My SMS" — four demo messages: two sent, two failed.

The SMS total and Sum in the top-right corner only count the messages that actually went out (status sent) — a failed attempt costs nothing and is not part of either total, which is why the list above shows 4 messages but "SMS total: 2".

What a status means

StatusMeaning
sentThe gateway accepted the message. The price shown was charged.
failedNothing was charged — the price column reads 0.00. The usual causes are no rate for that destination on the assigned tariff (see SMS tariffs and rates), not enough balance, or the gateway itself rejecting the message.

How the balance is charged

An SMS is billed exactly like a call, against the same Balance shown on the customer's own account page:

The same Balance a call is billed against — 35 EUR for Demo Customer.

Before anything is sent, Voiplix checks the customer can afford it — the identical rule used for calls (see Prepaid & postpaid):

  • A prepaid customer needs a balance at least as large as the message's price.
  • A postpaid customer can go negative, but only down to their credit limit — unless that limit is set to unlimited, in which case any price is accepted.

If that check fails, the message is not sent and nothing is charged — status failed, price 0.00, same as a destination with no rate. If it passes and the gateway accepts the message, the price is taken out of the balance in the same step the message row is written — there is no separate moment where a message sits "pending" against the balance in the interface: what Balance shows already reflects every message that has actually gone out.

Check

Open a customer's SMS page after a send and confirm the new row's Status and Price match what you expect, then open their user page and confirm Balance has dropped by exactly that price.
