Devices & PBX

A device is a phone's SIP account. This section covers a device's settings in depth, what happens to a call before it is answered, voicemail, and the PBX layer that sits on top of devices — ring groups, queues, IVR menus and PBX pools.

Everything here builds on step 6 of the Quick Start, which creates one device. This section goes deeper: every field on the device form, call handling per situation (busy, no answer, unreachable), voicemail, and the pieces that turn separate devices into a small phone system — ring groups that ring several phones at once, queues that hold callers in line for the next free agent, IVR menus ("press 1 for Sales"), and PBX pools that decide which devices are allowed to dial each other.

Note

"PBX functions" is the product's name for the whole group of features on this page: ring groups, queues, IVR menus, PBX pools and a handful of built-in feature codes. If a menu or a heading says "PBX", this section is what it means.
