SMS
Voiplix can send text messages through an SMS gateway you configure, and bills them the same way it bills a call. This section covers the whole path: the provider, the routing and pricing around it, sending a message from both sides, and where a sent message shows up.
Everything here lives under its own SMS group in the sidebar. What you see there depends on your role: an end customer gets Send SMS, SMS (their own message list) and SMS tariffs; staff (admin, accountant, reseller) get SMS users and Prefix finder; only an administrator gets SMS providers and SMS LCR, because those hold the gateway's login and password.
SMS is an add-on module, not something every customer automatically has. A customer only gets the SMS menu items once staff have subscribed them on the SMS users page — see Sending an SMS.
The five pages

- 3SMS tariffs and rates
- 4Sending an SMS
- 5The SMS list and how charging works
The short version
Staff set up a provider (the gateway that actually delivers the message), put it in an SMS LCR (which provider to use, and in what order if there is more than one), and create an SMS tariff (what a message to each destination costs the customer). A customer is then subscribed — given that LCR and tariff — on the SMS users page. From there, the customer sends messages from Send SMS, sees them again under SMS, and each one is priced and charged from their balance the moment the gateway accepts it — exactly like a call.
Already have voice tariffs and routing set up? SMS reuses the exact same Tariffs and Destinations screens described in Tariffs, Providers & Routing — an SMS tariff is just a tariff with a different purpose, priced per message instead of per minute.
